My journey with this textbook began in late 2012 when I joined a tarot study group led by Dr. Mouton, a psychologist and certified elementary teacher, whose psychological perspective greatly influenced my understanding and appreciation of tarot. By 2016, I was ready to teach a tarot class and collaborated with Dr. Mouton to develop a curriculum for Beginners and Intermediate courses. What started as an 18-week beginner course expanded into a 48-week program due to growing interest. Our group studied works by tarot experts such as Mary K. Greer, Barbara Moore, and Benebell Wen.
Over the years, as I continued to teach various tarot courses, I continuously refined the lessons and activities. Each new class provided valuable insights, allowing me to enhance the curriculum and improve teaching methods. The consistent evolution of the course material ensured it remained engaging, effective, and up-to-date with the latest developments in tarot studies. This ongoing process of refinement has made "Ace the Cards" a well-rounded, interactive guide that adapts to the needs of learners, offering a dynamic and comprehensive approach to mastering the art of tarot reading.
The book starts with the basics and progressively delves into more advanced aspects of tarot reading. Each chapter builds upon the previous one, forming a solid foundation for beginners while offering opportunities for deeper insights for advanced learners. The interactive worksheets and exercises make this book a hands-on learning experience, encouraging readers to practice and apply their knowledge from the very start. With a focus on mastery and retention, "Ace the Cards" employs pedagogical concepts like spiraling, allowing students to revisit and reinforce previous topics.
In addition to the textbook and virtual course, there is a vibrant learning community available through a dedicated Facebook group. This group provides a space for students to interact with others, share experiences, and cooperatively learn, creating a blended learning environment that enhances the overall educational experience.
